Social Groups

At Dreamspire, we offer Social Groups designed to help children develop essential social and communication skills in a fun, supportive, and interactive environment. Our groups provide opportunities for children to practice social interaction, build confidence, and learn how to navigate social situations with peers.

Key Focus Areas in Our Social Skills Groups

Our social groups incorporate a wide range of fun and engaging activities that foster both learning and enjoyment. Children participate in activities that promote social growth while also having fun and making friends. These include:

  • Arts and Craft – Encouraging creativity while developing skills in cooperation and sharing materials.
  • Story Time – Enhancing listening skills, following instructions, and expressing thoughts through conversation about stories and characters.
  • Turn-Taking and Sharing – Working on patience, sharing, and respecting others’ turns in group games and activities.
  • Teamwork – Engaging in activities that require collaboration, such as building projects, games, and problem-solving tasks that promote cooperation and shared goals.
  • Compromise and Conflict Resolution – Teaching children how to negotiate, find solutions, and work through conflicts in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Conversation Skills – Practicing initiating and maintaining conversations, asking questions, and learning appropriate non-verbal cues such as eye contact and body language.
  • Social Skills Development – Focusing on appropriate social behaviours, like using manners, asking for help, and greeting others.
  • Emotions and Self-Regulation – Helping children identify and express their emotions, and learning strategies for managing feelings in social situations (e.g., calming down techniques when upset).

How Our Social Groups Work

Our small group format ensures that each child receives individualised attention while also learning from their peers. All social groups are run by Allied Health Assistants, Behaviour therapists, and Speech Pathologists. Activities are designed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and structured to provide ample opportunities for practice and reinforcement. Children are guided by experienced therapists who support them in applying their skills in real-world scenarios.

Our Approach

  • Fun and engaging activities that encourage children to practice social skills in a relaxed, supportive environment.
  • Small group settings that provide the ideal space for social learning, with guidance and support from experienced therapists.
  • Emphasis on real-world application, so children can transfer skills to everyday social situations, such as school, home, and the community.
  • Focus on holistic development, fostering emotional regulation, confidence, and peer relationships.

At Dreamspire, we believe that social skills are best learned through experience and practice. Our Social Skills Groups provide children with the tools they need to build meaningful relationships, develop strong communication skills, and navigate social situations with confidence.
